We've kind of been waiting to reschedule until we were more confident about the condition of the canyon and the waterfalls. Your entries and photos pretty much answered those questions.

You might find some interesting trips at my blog 7days6nights.blogspot.com

Norm KernNormhttp://7days6nights.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866903923681224940.post-23174374046879204092014-05-27T16:07:32.848-06:002014-05-27T16:07:32.848-06:00Wonderful pictures! I am trying to figure out when to start - 6am/7am/8am.

I didn't keep notes, but I think we left the campground at around 9 am and probably returned at about 6 pm. We both had new cameras so we spent a good 2 hours or so of that time just on photography (playing around with different settings). Between the "photo shoots" at the falls, we kept a stiff pace and even broke out into a jog on some of the flatter sections with no rocks. With no navigation issues (although it's nearly impossible to get lost in this canyon, some may be slowed if you lose the well-beaten trail--as the other hiking couple did) and just spending a few minutes snapping photos, I'd guess this hike could easily be done in about 7 hours.

2. What type of footwear did you use or you recommend ?

Your feet will get wet. So heavy leather hiking boots are out. I used some Solomon amphibious shoes - these are essentially light hiking shoes that have mesh and water drains built into them. Hector just wore some old Columbia trail running shoes. 16 miles is a little long for sandals like Tevas in my opinion. The best would be old trail runners made of synthetic material paired with thin, synthetic socks (I usually wear cycling sock).

3. Most importantly, is there a trail map I could use ? :)

I'm not aware of a trail map, but I didn't look too hard. I did have access to the USGS 7.5-minute topographic maps (Havasu Falls and SB Point) which show the trail. From that map I digitized all of the stream crossings and entered them into my GPS as waypoints. This helped keep the guesswork out of where to cross the creek in order to stay on the trail, but this really wasn't necessary as we found the trail pretty easy to follow.TK421https://www.blogger.com/profile/17840234551821423029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866903923681224940.post-25815206961007269322013-05-06T18:15:03.440-06:002013-05-06T18:15:03.440-06:00Hi,

Another 15-20 yards along this ledge/trail and your looking at the Colorado--then you just need to scramble down some step-like limestone ledges to river's edge.TK421https://www.blogger.com/profile/17840234551821423029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4866903923681224940.post-67853519807840089292013-04-29T09:43:50.544-06:002013-04-29T09:43:50.544-06:00What is the way down to the CO river after the pic...What is the way down to the CO river after the picture captioned "Looking through the final narrows to the Colorado-Havasu confluence." ?Jay Dubhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17634382921276132895noreply@blogger.com
